I've hit the big time! Sort of.

I just found out that one of the photo's I've submitted to CNN.com travel photo gallery was posted on their gallery!   I can't tell you how excited this makes me.   Now, I realize this is for amateur photographers and I'm not being paid, and I didn't "win" a contest.  But, for me this is a very proud moment.   I know if my dad were still alive he would be proud of me.   He was a professional photographer and everything I've learned, I've learned from him.   This also has made me realize that you need to put yourself out there no matter what "out there" means to you.  Take a chance.  What's the worst that can happen?

Where does the time go?

I had all of Saturday to myself.  My husband, daughter and son-in-law, visited my husbands' grandmother for the weekend.   I had a whole list of things I was going to try to do:  walk the dogs (done), feed the kids cats (done), check out the antique desk at the local antique mall (check - too big), shopping at Target (done), sewing Buttercups Halloween costume (nope), hang artwork in ROG (nope), iron all of my clothes (nope).   Instead, I visited my mom. I was well overdue for a visit and I had bought a couple of things for her that I needed to drop off.   She was feeling poorly today, which is becoming her normal state so I picked up some groceries for her too.  My sister arrived at the same time I did and we were given projects to help around the house.  My mom wants to kill her cats next week.  She feels she can't take care of them anymore, which is justified given she is 83 and has leukemia.   She doesn't feel that trying to find a new home for them is the answer.   She thinks they would be more miserable in a new home than being dead.  I tend not to agree with that.  Today she revealed (not directly), that she is afraid she will die, not be discovered for days and the cats will start eating her.   Mmmm.  She stated this is a "medical fact" that she read about in a "medical magazine" years ago.  My sister and I questioned if this publication were the National Enquirer???  No she said.   I real doctors magazine.  Okay.   So now I have to contact rescue organizations and see if they have space for 2 cats.     I know what you're thinking and don't go there.  I already have 3 cats and 2 dogs.  We have reached our animal quota.  Hopefully, I can help poor little Annie and Max before its too late.

This is one of my almost 10 month old puppies. Her name is Buttercup and her sister's name is Lucy. Their mom is an English Coonhound but they must have had different dads since they look nothing alike. Buttercup loves to give kisses and eat the upholstery off of my antique chairs. Needless to say we prefer her kisses.

Ummm, hello again.

Wow. I didn't even remember I had this blog. Update: shower went great. Breakfast at Tiffany's sleepmasks were a big hit. Niece made a beautiful bride. 3 years later and they are getting divorced. Unfortunately, that is the American way of life now. My husband and I just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary this past summer. There are success stories out there. I wish there were more.
I'll try to remember I have this blog. I would change the name if I knew how to do that, but technology and I are not friends. I'm working on that though.
Later.

My very first blog

So, I've never done this before and I really don't understand the repercussions or what this will do for my life. But, I'm now blogging!
This all started in doing research for my niece's bridal shower that my daughter and I will be hosting. I'm in need of a template to make the sleepmask that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's. So, I found one on a blog spot but I needed to register in order to send an email to request the template from the very nice woman who posted it on her blog.
So, here I am. I guess I will see this through and enter more updates. Not that anyone else is going to read these but "Oh well!".
Signed,
Crafty Carol
